Hypocricy, thy name is Republican
Fascinating. Apparently the Republicans have been
using music without authorization this campaign season, from Heart, John Mellencamp, Jackson Browne, and Boston. I guess copyright laws don't apply to them, though they're certainly in bed with the RIAA (though what major politician isn't these days).

I found it a little bit dissonant last night to see the "inspirational" video before McCain's speech, which ganked the theme from the television show Dallas for much of its melody...That show was about rich people--oil barons, in fact--who are about as out of touch with the everyday person as anyone could imagine...And this is the theme song that the great man of the people is trying to convince us with? Sorry, try again...Or fire your musical production producers, because they're having a laugh at your expense, McShithead!

[Sorry...Republicans make me ranty.]

Wow, the theme from Dallas, seriously? I like the idea that the folks choosing the music were being subversive, but I fear that they just think JR is who we should all aspire to be.

I heard them play the Heart song, and I freaked out! Because 1) I love Heart and 2) I love that song, and it made me crazy to think I'd have to associate it with Sarah Palin, and 3) I really could not believe that Heart would have allowed the Republicans to use it. So, yeah, not generally a fan of calling the copyright cops, but at the same time, yay! Don't let them fucking have it! :)

Yea, I'm not a big fan of the copyright cops, but they can't have it both ways. Or, well, I guess they can, but they shouldn't be able to.
